Data sources
HolidayHub analyses open, mostly official data. The following sources require acknowledgement; we provide it here in one place.
- Accommodation and tourism statistics: Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union – reuse with acknowledgement of source. The crowding figures derived from it are our own calculation; Eurostat is not responsible for them.
- School and public holidays: OpenHolidays API (CC BY 4.0) and Nager.Date.
- Weather and climate data: Generated using Copernicus Climate Change Service information (ERA5-Land, ERA5 and AgERA5), provided via the Climate Data Store, under the Licence to Use Copernicus Products. Neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use of this data by us.
- Ski areas, pistes and elevations: OpenSkiMap based on OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. Databases derived from it are shared under the same terms.
- Flight connections and airport reference data: direct connections from Wikipedia (“Airlines and destinations”, aggregated and modified by us), licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0; the connection data derived from it is licensed under the same terms. Cross-checked with Eurostat, the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) and the UK Civil Aviation Authority; airport data from OurAirports (Public Domain).
